LIEUTENANT COLONEL SCOTT M. PREUSKER
Commander, Public Health Activity-Fort Gordon

 

Lieutenant Colonel Preusker was born in Arlington Heights, IL. He attended Illinois State University (ISU) and played Division I Football as a four-year letter winner and 3-year starter for the ISU Football National Semi-finalist and Conference Championship teams.  He graduated from ISU in 1999 with a bachelor of science. In 2002, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a master of education and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. LTC Preusker’s first duty assignment was Kitzingen and Schweinfurt, Germany with the 701st Main Support Battalion (MSB) and 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment. While stationed in Germany, he deployed to Iraq from 2004-2005 as Medical Platoon Leader, Battalion Civil Affairs Officer and Medical Operations Officer supporting 1st Infantry Division. Upon redeploying to Germany, LTC Preusker was the Executive Officer (XO) for the Department of Outlying Health Clinics at the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity (USAMEDDAC), Wuerzburg, Germany from 2005-2007. After completing the Maneuver Captains Career Course in 2007, LTC Preusker took Command of the 36th Area Support Medical Company (ASMC), 261st Multifunctional Medical Battalion (MMB), 44th Medical Brigade at Ft. Bragg, NC. The unit deployed to Afghanistan from 2009-2010 providing area medical support to Coalition and Joint Forces. Following the combat deployment, he volunteered for assignment as the Chief of Plans for the 65th Medical Brigade in Seoul, South Korea. While in Korea, he was hand-picked for instructor duty at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), TX. LTC Preusker was an Instructor at the Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC) and Field Training Exercise (FTX) Officer in Charge (OIC) from 2011-2013 before early selection for promotion and resident Command and General Staff College (CGSC) at Ft. Leavenworth, KS from 2013-2014. After graduating he was chosen as the Operations Officer (S-3) and Executive Officer (XO) for the 47th Combat Support Hospital (CSH), 62nd Medical Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), WA from 2014-2017 where he deployed numerous units to combat in the Middle East while simultaneously conducting security cooperation missions in South East Asia. LTC Preusker was selected for Long Term Health Education & Training (LTHET) and served on The Joint Staff as the Army Medical Operations Officer Intern at the Pentagon from 2017-2018 and as a Force Development Officer on the Army Staff, Office of The Surgeon General developing future medical capabilities in the National Capital Region from 2018-2021. LTC Preusker is currently the Battalion Commander of Public Health Activity – Ft. Gordon providing strategic force health protection to the Joint Force across five states and two OCNOUS locations spanning three time zones. He attends resident U.S. Army War College this summer for academic year 2023-2024.
 
His military education consists of the Basic Officer Leader Course, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Instructor Training Course, Health Services Plans, Operations, Intelligence and Security Course (70H), Joint Planners Course, Command and General Staff College, Joint Medical Operations Course, Joint Special Operations Medical Orientation Course and the Army Force Management Course.
 
LTC Preusker’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Over Seas Service Ribbon (5), NATO Medal, Joint Staff Identification Badge, Army Staff Identification Badge, Combat Medical Badge, Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge.
           
He is married to Mrs. Andrea Preusker, they have two children, Alexander (6) and Charlotte (4).
