LIEUTENANT COLONEL ANNA MANDRA
Commander, Veterinary Readiness Activity, Fort Knox

Lieutenant Colonel Anna Mandra is a native of Southern California. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2005, a Doctorate in 2011 from Western University of Health Sciences and a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota in 2011. She is board certified in Veterinary Preventive Medicine. 

LTC Mandra was commissioned into the US Army Veterinary Corps in 2009 through the Health Profession Scholarship Program. Upon graduating from veterinary school in 2011, she completed a nine-month First Year Graduate Veterinary (FYGVE) internship at Fort Belvoir, VA. Upon completion she was assigned to the 106th Medical Detachment (VSS), serving as a team OIC in Camp Humphreys, South Korea from 2012-2014. She was subsequently assigned to Veterinary Medical Center Europe in Germany as the Outpatient Clinic and Military Working Dog (MWD) OICs from 2014-2017. LTC Mandra was then selected to complete a fellowship in field epidemiology and public health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Pox Virus and Rabies Branch. She then served as the lead infectious disease intelligence analyst for COVID-19 at the National Center for Medical Intelligence from 2019-2022. In 2022, she was assigned as the Operations OIC for the 64th Medical Detachment (VSS) in Baumholder, Germany.

LTC Mandra’s military education includes Army Command and General Staff College, AMEDD Captains Career Course, AMEDD Officer Basic Course, Installation Food Vulnerability Assessment Course, Food and Water Risk Assessment Course, and Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostician Course.

LTC Mandra’s awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal.

LTC Mandra is married to Anthony Mandra, and they have two sons, Orion (8) and Kaiden(6).
