First Sergeant Lizeth Montenegro was born in Managua, Nicaragua, and enlisted in the Army in Oct 2003. She attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston Texas, where she was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty of 68T, Animal Care Specialist.
First Sergeant Montenegro’s past assignments included 64th Medical Detachment, Stuttgart, Germany (Veterinary Clinic NCOIC); Veterinary Readiness Activity, Fort Eisenhower, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico (Veterinary Treatment Facility NCOIC); Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Veterinary Medicine Division, Silver Spring, Maryland (Small Animal Department NCOIC); Veterinary Readiness Activity, Fort Eisenhower, Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta, Georgia (Veterinary Treatment Facility NCOIC); Public Health Activity-Hawaii, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii (Operations and Branch NCOIC). She has deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
