1SG JUAN QUINONES
First Sergeant, Veterinary Readiness Activity, Fort Eisenhower

 

First Sergeant Juan A. Quinones Rivera was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and enlisted in the U.S. Army in April of 2014. His previous duty assignments include the 43rd Medical Detachment Veterinary Service Support (MDVSS) in Fort Cavazos, TX from 2015 to 2018, the 64th MDVSS in Baumholder, Germany from 2018 to 2021, and the Fort Eisenhower Veterinary Clinic Section NCOIC from June 2021 to June 2022. He currently serves as First Sergeant of Veterinary Readiness Activity, Fort Eisenhower.

1SG Quinones has been deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in 2015, and during his time in Germany, he deployed numerous times to Poland. In 2020, he deployed to Kosovo and served as the Theater Force Health Protection NCOIC for KFOR22 Task Force Medical, Multinational Battle Group-East. He also supported multiple food and water risk assessments in Ethiopia, Latvia, Macedonia, and food safety and defense at installations in Sigonella and Naples, Italy.

1SG Quinones holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing science, an Associate's degree in Art, and will complete his Master's degree in Management in 2025. His military education consists of Advanced Individual Training (68R), Air Assault School, Fuel Handler Course, Field Sanitation Team Course, Basic Leader Course (Commandant List), Combative Level 1 and 2, Generator Operator Course, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, Advanced Leader Course, Unit Prevention Leader Course, Installation Veterinary Service Course, Installation Food Vulnerability Assessment Course, Cold Weather Leader Course, and Senior Leader Course (CL).

1SG Quinones' awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal 3rd award, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal 2nd award, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon 2nd award, NATO Medal, Driver/Mechanic Wheeled Vehicle Badge, Air Assault Badge and ARCTIC Tab.

He is married to Mrs. Kayleen Espanol and they have two children, Lily Marie (7) and Diego Alexis (3).
