Optimize health and readiness of Warfighters, DA Civilians, Beneficiaries and DoD-owned animals through the responsive and relevant Public Health Services of Veterinary Medicine and Food Protection to conserve the fighting strength and health of the force.

Our Area of Responsibility:
Veterinary Readiness Activity, Fort Liberty has 6 subordinate branches that supports 37 installations across Virginia and North Carolina. VRA, Fort Liberty operates 8 veterinary treatment facilities. Within our region our staff supports over 45,000 privately owned animals, 94 government owned animals, 477 food facilities and 49 commercial audit facilities.

Unique Missions:
  • Supports the largest force-generating platforms for the Army, Navy, and Marines
  • Provide Food Safety and Defense for the 78 ships of the Atlantic Fleet
  • Provide administrative support to 2 68R40s assigned to the Navy Food Management Team and the East Coast Food Management Team
  • Support the United States 2nd Fleet through the Ship Rider Program which provides one 68R20/30 for Food Safety to deployed ships
  • First Year Graduate Veterinary Education Program
